As the founder of BPBN, she's dedicated to amplifying underrepresented voices in the pet and animal space. LaShonda is deeply engaged in DEI initiatives, empowering future leaders and creating pathways to success. A dynamic figure, she's an entrepreneur, animal welfare advocate, and writer committed to fostering equal opportunity and advancement. Read on to learn about the Black Pet Business Network's mission and upcoming opportunities to connect with the network in person.

How did the Black Pet Business Network get started?

I started this organization because I wanted to shine light on the underrepresented businesses and brands in our industry. BPBN was created to empower and amplify the voices and visibility of Black-owned pet businesses and professionals. We began with the mission to connect and build a community, and since then, we've expanded to offer even more networking opportunities, education, business resources, and career advancement options for our members.

What is the BPBN's mission?

At BPBN, our mission is to provide a supportive community, advocate, educate, and give access to amazing opportunities that empower Black-owned pet businesses and professionals.

How can people get involved with the BPBN?

Anyone can get involved with BPBN in several ways. Become a member to access our resources, networking events, and educational programs. If you're a corporation, partner with us to sponsor events, provide resources, or collaborate on initiatives that support Black-owned pet businesses. They can also volunteer their time and expertise to help with our events, mentorship programs, and community outreach. Attending our events is a great way to build connections and collaborate. Lastly, anyone can help spread the word about BPBN’s mission by sharing our content on social media and within your networks.

Are there any upcoming events or campaigns you’d like to promote for the BPBN?

This fall, we are launching our Business Launchpad accelerator to support the early-stage startups in our community. We will also be hosting a big networking event at SUPERZOO and Fun in the Sun. We also have a new events calendar on our website, www.blackpetbusinessnetwork.com, with upcoming educational webinars and programming.
